For anyone planning a sprint up to Birubi to get amongst the predicted westerly today (Saturday)... wind has just swung up here in the Bay.
Not strong... yet... but it is coming from the right direction - Nor West at about 8 knots.

Just gone 7:30am... so if the predictions ring true it could be cooking by lunchtime.

Will try and post some pics and a report from the beach if anyone is interested, so you can check it and make a decision based on the conditions before you do the drive.
Would be good to see a few sails out at the local

07:45 - It has arrived... with a bit of dust cloud.
Local weather station (from Coastalwatch) is calling 25 NW at 07:42 ?

Don't know if its the Nelson Bay station at the Sea Rescue station where it's measured ?
Not sure if it's 20 - 25 knots but the trees are moving...

Here in Kurnell it's blowing 35 to 40!
Too big for my 6.2 again. No wind or too much is my life

why don't you just buy a couple of smaller sails? get a 5.3 and a 4.5 ... and you are set. I think Windsurf n Snow has some pretty good deals at the moment.

Thats what I want to do but if I buy sails of these sizes I will also have to buy a smaller mast and a smaller boom. I can't offord them at the moment. And as usual, as soon as I will buy them there will be no wind

bummer... I just sold a couple of great condition booms cheaply... also have some carbon masts I don't use... probably could have hocked you up with a mast and boom for a couple a hundred bucks...

let me have a look at the masts... I might be able to sort you out at least with that.

Probably still worth chatting to the guys at Windsurf n Snow. Some of the smaller sails have adjustable heads and fit on 430/460 masts ok. The sails do become a little bit more gusty, but overall it does not effect the handling too much and it does get you out there.

I discussed already with them but they were not sure that the vario head can be extended enough to fit a 460.
I have a vario head sail back in britanny and I can only extend it to 23-25 cms.

I think I have to find some time to go back to collaroy and discuss with the guys in windsurfandsnow.
