Hi all
How did ya all go in the westerlys today.

I headed down to maianbar and had a play on the sand bar - had a few good runs but over all not very impressed with the bar. The fast run is heading from the channel in to the shore but about 2/3 of the way thru the run you hit the lee side of the trees and the hill where the town is parked which really kills your speed.
Running out the other way you run into small chop as you hit the channel area and its on a V away from the bar.
The hilly region makes for some insane wind fluctuations - I had a 6.7 up and at some points i couldnt get enuf wind to water start and then a gust would come thru and blow me away. There was so much power in some of the gusts i was getting backwinded into the water on the water start. had to stop and put a lot more out haul on to make the sail controllable.
Persoannly i think ill go to kernell next time as the wind over there looked a lot more consistant.
Anyone sail kernell today and if so how was it.

Gday Craig,
Good onya for having a go down there. Sounds like it needs more west or SW in it.
Most of us sailed Narrabeen today and it was gusty as. You werent the only one that was struggling so maybe we can check it next time we get a proper wind.
heres hoping.
