Kurnell super choppy, Foreshore Drive flat but small area, Primbee and Budgewoi lake great but you need a high rake weed fin. I think La Perouse would also work but never been there in W. And in the North shore inside of Palm Beach or Narrabeen lakes.

La Perouse is the only decent Sydney option. Its a bit bump and jump style but can be fun.

I've also sailed in the harbour in a W from Balmain out to Cockatoo, but I wouldn't recommend unless you are quite a confident sailor as the wind is very flukey and lots of boats/current.

I find going to Kurnell and getting up into quibray bay works because you still get the NW but a lot less chop

Rose Bay on the Harbour is pretty good...especially during high tides...

Drive down to Primbee. You will be hooked on the speed sailing bug as soon as you have been there. Unfortunately then you start buying multiple weeds fins , a speed board and scanning the forecast neurotically for the next westerly. It is a great vibe too as a bunch of Sydney sailors go down and then there are the locals and everyone chats about their gear, what works for them etc. If you lock yourself out of your car on a freezing afternoon and have to wait for NRMA, someone will over you a towel, something to eat and hang around ( Thanks boys especially George - The hoody saved me)

Where do you rig up and launch from at La Perouse? Yarra Bay or Frenchman's Beach?

Park on the bend and walk down round the bushes to what I believe is an old boat ramp for lifeboats. Watch out, bit sharp around there. You can sail from here in anything from SW to NW. I think it will be good for foiling, maybe tomorrow.
