Hi all,
Hows the conditions at Sanctuary Point these days in regards to weed? Would I need a weed fin? My wife and I have had a couple of years out of sailing due to life getting in the way (kids I mean). It's been a few years since I've sailed in the basin.... we are keen to get back into it..
Cheers
Hi Corkers I used mostly weed fins there last summer, although the last couple of times in March used a pointer fin and didn't pick up much weed. Most of the weed is in close by the boat ramp. It would be worth getting a weed fin if you're going to sail there a lot.
Hi Corkers, it will be great to see some new faces on the Basin.
Yep, as Dezza said above the weedie is a bit of a must but I also venture out occasionally with a pointer. If you can slightly jump the board out of the water, it will generally get rid of the weed.
For the shallow areas up in the weed beds, a weed fin is a must.
See you at the boat ramp!

Thanks Toni,
My wife and I learnt to sail there quite a few years ago and have visited on and off over the years. ... bring on the summer!
What is a weed fin?
It is one of those things you absolutely need if you sail downwind of the boatramp at Sanctuary Point... unless you like going really slow or coming to a complete stop as you hit a clump of weed.
