I took some video footage of the wavesailing at Long Reef today. Unfortunately the camera lense got a fair bit of sea spray on it over time, so the footage progressively gets blury. Otherwise its not bad footage from the beach. If you were sailing there today and are interested in me putting together a clip let me know. Also tell me what sail you were using. I can then check the footage and include you in the clip. If there is any interest I'll put the clip together and post it here.
There were a whole bunch of windsurfers out there which was great to see, probably more windsurfers that kiters.
Had a small board & 4.7 - powered! 4.5 would have been good as well. I was sailing pretty
rubbish so not bothered about the footage.
Too strong for the kites altho the ones out there were quite obstructively annoying ![]()
If you have any shots of a person in a white helmet and an old green / monofilm gaastra sail, Back impact vest and grey seat harness I'd be keen to see.
Definitely interested. I was on red Severne. S1 and Fanatic board.
Cheers for standing on the beach getting sandblasted
I would have preferred to be in a 4.2 but I always rig a little bigger for onshore SE's
If you have the time to edit your footage, maybe pick out the bits that you think are worth showing.
From my perspective, it was basically a "hang on and hope" session as the wind was full-on, but there wasn't much swell/waves.
Cheers
Yeah I could see it was pretty full on. The swell was lacking but the wind was not. I've checked a bit of the footage and its not bad, disappointing the sea spray got on the lense. Its first time I've taken footage so close to the water with an onshore wind. As there is a bit of interest I'll put a clip together. If its a windless weekend I'll probably do it then.
