I've just started wave sailing and have some questions about the setup. I've moved the front footstraps on my semi-wave board all the way forward and closest to centre line as possible. I've also loosened them up so I can get my toes across the centreline as I'm assuming this is required to initiate a bottom turn properly. Back strap is in full back position. All this with wave fin. While out this weekend I found the board felt really crappy on the way out compared to my usual freeride setup with freeride fin and straps back and outboard. Felt like I had weed on my fin... Slow and a sensation of always wanting to head up to windward compared to being on rails in the normal setup. Any comments on how to setup for waves? How loose should the straps be? Is this feeling normal for wave setup? I am willing to accept that a wave setup will be less effective when not riding waves but didn't think it should feel this bad...
