Hi there seabreezers,

Just wondering if anyone has recent information on the water quality in BotanyBay?

My girlfriend is worried about heavy metals, contaminants affecting my long term health and i was looking for some up to date info on the subject?

Anyone work for the Dept of Env?

Thanks
David

If you could get the info do you really want to know? I'd say from what I've seen and smelt, it won't be good.

Booties and remember to shut your mouth when you fall?

if you are a smoker or heavy drinker or take chemicals i'd be more worried about that! heck id' be more worried about the chemicals sprayed over the fruit and veg you buy at the supermarket!

I think the risk is very marginal. I just want a recent report that says the same thing.

There are reports of under ground waste near port botany which is possibly leaking into the bay, there was an article about it in the local st george paper a few months back. Although quite serious in terms of the bay itself I doubt it will have any affect on you windsurfing in the bay. The main concern would be if you regulary eat estuary fish caught in the bay or if you drink the water alot. So dont worry about it just go windsurf in there and keep your mouth shut!
