I don't claim to be the worlds best athlete .. far from it.. but I was suitable impressed with my first ever attempt at and lesson in Windsurfing. I am awesome Did I say I was modest too?

Is it Windsurfing or Sailboarding??? I would hate to offend and say the wrong thing. I am not up on the lingo

For example...

My lesson was on a big long white board and I mean big (I was told size was important )... the sail was a yellow and pink thing taller than me.. very pretty.. a Neil Pryde with a number 4 on it

During the lesson I was told to put my left hand "on" and then "off".. well it was already on and I was not letting go. I believe I was gripping for dear life in the 10 maybe 12?? Knot gale that was blowing. Was there something wrong with using the words "forward" or "back" or "1st gear" "2nd gear" or maybe even "push" or "pull" ??? I dunno call me ... a novice

But in the end after about an hour or so of getting very very wet with much landing in the water, usually backward, getting my ankle caught (once) between the sail and the board (I am sporting a nice bruise today), and a few swear words, I reckon I didn't do too bad My excellent, wonderful, patient, great, fantastic teacher said I did very well indeed and picked it up very easily.

I am so excited.. WO material hehehe .... and am ready to go again.. today .. please.. I pray to the wind god, or the water god.. or whom ever i should pray to.. hopefully my teacher will be available this arvo???? just putting it out there

so, thank you for reading and listening.. just wanted to share the thrill.

If you are being fair dinkum then welcome to the awesome world of windsurfing.
If your not then Brucie is at it again
Excuse the paranoia but unfortunately we get some weird trolls on this site and everyone is sometimes a bit wary.
By the sounds of your post you are hooked, dont fight it just go with the flow.
Welcome.

Hey Tan, Welcome aboard. Glad you enjoyed it. Spanners is a pretty tops teacher - and its hard to surpass his skill in going fast in a straight line. He takes payment in beer, although I'm sure there was something else on the table in the case of your lesson.
Hope Elgin the surfer dog didn't barf on your board too!!!
See ya soon.
Cheers,
Russ

Hey Russ

thanks .. I had a great time and great to be aboard. Had nearly talked Spanners into taking me out again yesterday but the wind and weather was quite bad :( must say .. slightly disappointed :) oh no.. am i sick??? lol

Spanners is pretty cool.. Think i might start the Spanners Appreciation Society and payment??? Does it get any better than Beer?????

I have recent purchased a PFD for Elgin the Surfer dog. So that when he gets his proper sea legs he wont drown :) He is gonna look sooo cool. Photos will be upload soon

Anyhoo, bloody work calls
see ya soon
