My oldies are retiring up to Lisarow and expect me to vist, so i need motivation to get up there. Just wondering about sailing spots at Lake tuggerah? Maybe even some easy going ocean sailing, I herd that Canton Beach is the go for anything with W in it.
Cheers
mtber67,
You want easy going ocean sailing near Lisarow?
You wont find any easier than Toowoon Bay near The Entrance.
Probably only 20min drive from Lisarow.
Works in a southerly.
I have had some great sales just north of the Entrance in Tuggerah. There is a little fishing coop or something with a car park. have to cross a channel in a wind shadow and then walk through the shallow weed, but one out, the wind was strong and consistent with nice rolling chop that you could sail around or over as it is well organised.
This was a several years ago, but I assume you can still do the same. I have my best NE sails I have ever had on the central coast in this location.
These days I mostly sail Botany as it is closer for me.

I've been to the same place recently and its still as Adrian described. Unfortunately every time I've been there the wind hasn't.
The people above are right but they omit to mention that Tuggerah is weed infested. Do not go there without a weed fin. The water is pretty muddy at the launch but the sailing can be great.
It gets NE & anything from west as well as southerlies.
NE & NW is best from the fish co-op at north entrance. The launch is a bit dodgy as you may have to float accross a channel before getting the wind. It gets NW as well or better than almost anywhere. NE also good but there are better places to go. Likewise southerlies. Umina is superb in southerlies & no weed & clean water.
Lots of guys go to Toowoon Bay in S or NE. Terrigal offers good ocean sailing in NE but the wind does not always get in there as strong as Tuggerah or Toowoon.
Canton Beach on Tuggerah is good in S,SW or W & is the destination of choice when it freezing cold in winter & you want some flat water to sail without falling in as it has a big flat water, shallow area. Shame about the weed otherwise it would be speed sailing heaven.
Totally agree with what Bruce said.![]()
You could try Koolewong or Green Point in a N/E'er too. Usually a few sailors at either or both.
I prefer Umina in a Southerly but it is more Freeride or Wave style than Slalom due to waves. Also you have to look out for Learner Kiters who sometimes litter the water. They tend to stay closer in. We go a bit further out, where the grey suited ones sometimes pass. Waves near the Box are usually nice.![]()
