It's pretty typical isn't it. My wife has a bunch of girlfriends coming up from Melbourne this weekend, and subsequently I have leave pass to do whatever and go where ever I want this weekend. For the last couple of weeks I have been forumulating plans on where I will go in my van with my toys this weekend.

Looking at the forecast, it seems that Huey just doesn't want to play....

I have come to the conclusion that the following applies:

- You have work on = it's windy
- National family holidays such as xmas = It's windy (naturally)
- You have an afternoon BBQ planned with friends = It's windy
- You have look after friends/ family that have flown in for the weekend / week = It's windy

- you got nothing on = It's not windy

You have pretty much summed it up!

I'd be happy with even 10 knots NE so that I can take my SUP with a large wave sail, but even that's looking suss....

I tried to get out in light wind at Wanda the other weekend, but it was ENE and too onshore

If there is more East in a Nor Easter are there any spots that work better than others?

laff, since you seem to be into SUP then ENE wind can be awesome at Long Reef at Butterbox (south side of the Long Reef point) with a bit of south swell. Needs to be the right angle but anything over 0.5 metre will break.

I have had some top sails out there in ENE wind although it tends to be on those days when the weather is really average with rain stinging your face!

Thanks Tomp, I might give that a go.

Anyone else keen for a light wind wave session?

Yes, I've been itching to take the new (now not so new) SUP out for some light wind waves. Let me know where / if you're heading out.

Anyway I've just jinxed any hope of decent wind for the next few months by buying a 83L wave board!

So it's all your fault Des

Cool, so sounds like we might have a bit of a posse. I'm definately going out no matter what. BOM forecast for Sat reads:

Winds: Northeasterly 5 to 10 knots tending east to southeasterly during the afternoon then tending south to southeasterly during the evening. Seas: Below 0.5 metres.

So I guess a spot that will work with East in either, with a bit of North or South thrown in. Maybe somewhere up the Northern Beaches is the go. I've never sailed up that side of Sydney, so I would be keen on that.

The forecast looks dismal and even the big NE forecst on seabreeze for Friday isn't showing on the BOM forecast.

BOM is saying NE15-20kts for Friday? In the Illawarra anyway. Personally I think the Seabreeze forecast is often much more accurate than the BOM one, for some reason.

Sunday could have a bit of a seabreeze, depending on how far north the high pressure system gets.

Looks like Sunday afternoon could be the go for light wind wave SUP session - 15 knots...maybe even get the smaller gear out depending on the surf.
