Lads and Ladies,
Just off the wire with the Desel Plant 'hot line'.
They are ahead of schedual with laying the pipe at the moment 'which is good incase of future trouble', not finishing early..... The back filling over the pipe is taking place at the moment at the Northern end of the bay (bestic st).

They dont forsee the need to block off any access to Kurnell as they approach with the pipe laying unit, however 'forsee" is the key word.

At this stage they forecast that the Bestic St water access will be open again in appox 6 - 8 weeks.

Did they by any chance mention anything about the guarantee of 25-30 Nor Easters all summer?

for some reason that topic seemed to sneak its way into the 'foresee' category.

Thanks for the update Tim. It looks like there's an off chance of a bit of a NE this weekend too. Hmmm, where to go, where to go?

What about the "Plane Spotters Beach" at north end near old control tower?

At the risk of ruining the day by discussing the forecast...

It's currently ENE which is directly square to the runway, so "Plane Spotters" might be the go...

Does anyone know how much barge action is happening up around the area?

One thing to bear in mind, is the stinky river will be pumping out lots of goodstuff at the moment with all this rain we have had lately.

If you are going to sail off that little beach you are pretty much at the mouth of the river. Be cautious of semi-submerged objects that can do wonders for your gear, not to mention catching god knows what. Last time I sailed in the bay after heavy rain I was sick as a dog.

I am tempted to try my luck down South.

Now that we're talking about it, of course the green arrows have gone.

Looks like another trek around to Far Kurnell. The tide should be pretty good on Sat too - no mud flats...

looks like the best spot Laff.

GERROA (northern end of Seven Mile Beach)
- 120 km / 1 hour 30 minutes south of Sydney
- Follow the Princes Highway south to Dunmore (south of Kiama) take the Gerringong exit and follow the road to Gerroa. Park near the caravan park south side of the bridge.
- Type of sailing: Open ocean slalom and waves arguably the best wave sailing location south of Sydney. Excellent bear-aways in Nor'east breeze.
- Preferred breeze: Nor'easter, not bad in westerly and sou'wester
- Launching/rigging: Grass rigging in car park. Camping ground nearby
