I have taken tomorrow off and will be out there, maybe Dolls Point, Ramsgate or Sandringham.

Just had a short session at nulla. Wind ranged from 10 to 15kts on the inside to 40 out the back. Very difficult for sail selection.

I hear you... only had an hour so went for a quick sail at Dolls Point. seriously over cranked on a 4.2. Probably should have dashed up to Long Reef instead.

Sailed Maroubra at dawn on 4.7. there were some pretty epic wave, and some big heavy closeouts. gettig out was near impossible with the flukey wind on the shore, ended up spending alot of time in the drink.

Bear island bombie in the arvo was LARGE but good walling sections. being sw it was straight cross to the wave so you could bear away down the line.

One of the best days i've had, though some company would have been nice.

Hey Duncan, i'm a bit confused about Bare Island.. how does it work?? (i'd imagine you end up just behind the island as per the below (which would be very gusty..)).

Thks!

hey francois,

the bombie is located in front of the island, you can just make out the end of it in the bottom middle of your photo. the wave ends before the island and you pull out before the shadow, thankfully there is a bit of a channel between the bombie and island in case things go wrong. it only turns into a rideable walling wave when its over 6 foot and it can break unpredictably heavy, there were a few hefty top to bottom barrel yesterday. i had it one day in a westerly that was cross off and 8 foot plus and sooo smooth. lots of fun, just a bit scary at times. no crowds
