I don't much like wind with tide conditions; always sailing upwind and no ramps. This weekend if lucky we'll get Southerlies and an incoming tide. Botany Bay where I usually sail will have wind with tide. Yuck.
Where else is there? Where might I find tide running south, or not North?

Best you'll find in Sydney is Kurnell in a westerly with an incoming tide or la perouse in a southwest on an incoming tide.
Runout tide in the mouth of Broken Bay just out from Lion Island against a solid South Easterly can get seriously lumpy. It's a little slog around Barrenjoey but once out it's 2+ nautical miles of bliss over to the Central Coast.

Funnily enough on a map Bondi looks good too, but that's obviously a no-go.

If you don't like sailing in tidal water then you'll have to find a lake somewhere. Ocean or bay sailing in Sydney means tides which just go in or out, which is part of the fun of sailing.
Doll's Point has a very strong tide and you can be sucked in to the bay on an ingoing tide or get very rough water if the tide is going out on a NE.
I noticed in one of your posts you said what a ***** season it is. It's just started and we have had some good winds but not always on the weekends and the best of the NE's are after 400pm. Did you get out today? We've had another stonking southerly all day.
I hope you can find the conditions you are seeking but Kyeemagh/Botany is as good as you'll get for unobstructed and variable directions of winds in Sydney, tide and all.
I always used to like sailing against a big out-going tide at Dolls Point. You could bear away all day and not lose any ground. You'll need to wear your boardies over your wetsuit if you there nowadays though.
^ How fast might the flow be on a big tide? I used to sail a spot on GC that ran at 4 knots and I kinda miss it. Not only do you sail downwind all day with ramps but it adds 4 knots to the apparent wind.
I wear speedos over my wetsuit.
...and it has been a ****ty season. I'm heading out for a sail this afternoon but I'm taking a book with me.
Saturday & Sunday at North end of Umina Beach. High tide doesn't peak until 3:20pm with a delay of 30 mins at Ettalong so the flow into Brisbane water will take a while to turn and head back out. A Nor' Easter gets compressed around the headland when it works and it's a pretty special place with very flat water and small ramps.
Unfortunately I can't make either day but I hope someone checks it out and reports back.
