Super idea holding the AGM in middle of winter, at night in a location even most Sydneysiders will have a long trip to. Much better than the pre 2011 method of holding the AGM at the last regatta where most sailors were present. That just led to all & sundry listening & piping up with their opinions & then voting on matters concerning the series which were, strictly speaking, matters purely for Stormriders. I mean, just because you support the series doesn't mean you have a say in how it is run.
I hope you booked a large room to cope with a massive turnout of Stormriders willing to travel across town to exercise their democratic rights.
This meeting will be heaps better than the old one under the tree at Hawks Nest. Guaranteed to discourage the unrepresentative swill, stop those pesky Marmongers & Illawarras having their say, god knows they never said anything useful anyway. They can just like it or lump it. I personally will try to attend (promise not to say anything) although a 3 hour trip for the pleasure of listening but not voting is a bit daunting...maybe too daunting now that I think on it. I am sure the wise heads of Stormriders will work everything out fine without the likes of me & everyone else who finds it inconvenient. Really, the fewer there the easier it will be.
PS, don't put the results up on the web till just before the new series starts if at all, we love a surprise.
There are some structural changes going on specifically to do with Stormriders and the NSW Windsurfing Series. Cut a long story short, we want the Series to have an ownership structure that involves the stakeholders i.e. the other clubs.
There is a couple of reasons for this, 1- it will give the series more longevity and better information flow , 2- it will help to spread the management of the events.
The way to achieve this is to segregate the series from Stormriders.
This will allow Stormriders to morph into a Sydney Based club (Probably based at Botany Bay), which will have an equal stake in the series as Marmong etc....
There is also another angle: We desperately need a Formula body in Australia as FW has not really grown outside of NSW and the WNSW needs a rep for each aspect of windsurfing i.e. race-boards, wave, formula etc....Anyway, this is covering a lot of stuff that is really structural, but the Stormriders AGM is the first step....
Hey Bruce, get on the board and help run it. I'll nominate you. At last years AGM Dave stepped up and became President. No one else was willing to step up. That's because the other Members present at the AGM all bust their gut dragging safety boats to and from events or spend 100 hours organising oceanics. The same crew had to do it AGAIN this year after what i can see has been a revolving door year after year for each of them by my observations. Shall we nominate you in absentia ?

Bruce, you are right the overall results are not under the "result" tab, but they were posted the day after the last even in the top news section for heat7 on the event web page above...
I never noticed they were not in both parts of the web page, I guess i was just happy getting them up so quickly on the news page.....
I'm always happy for people to sent friendly reminder emails or posts if we don't get everything right in a timely fashion....
Sorry Brett, the results I referred to were the AGM results.
Nominate away Roger, I am not a member. Just me being too subtle again I guess.
Let's see how many attend the meeting, if there is a big rollup that is fine. Will it be as good as the old agm under the tree at hawkers? That is the point.
If you ask me north of the bridge makes a nice change from all the driving to meetings over the years. Might even get a cab and beer on a little.
Sam.
Just a reminder to everyone that the AGM is on next week. 7pm at the Rag and Famish at Nth Sydney. Its a short walk from the train station or bus stops.
Ben 55555,
I can report, from my exclusive sources, that the new El Presidente is Ricardo, that slalom has been re-introduced to the series, that there will be 8 series regattas this year and non Stormriders will be prohibited from helping with the boats. Regatta fees will be increased for non members and the national anthem played at every briefing.
Don't be impatient, the full minutes of the meeting, including who attended, will be published here & on the Stormriders site within 24 hours.
Hi all,
The Storm Riders AGM minutes have been circulated to all members from last year. We voted Adam Craven as President, Tim Ford as VP and Brett Morris will still hold the purse strings.
After the AGM we discussed the organisation of the NSW Series.
The key points discussed were the following.
1. NSW Windsurfing Series will no longer be organised by the StormRiders club. The Series will be organised and planned by a Windsurfing NSW subcommittee. This subcommittee will consist of members of all participating clubs not just StormRiders. This will hopefully be more inclusive and all clubs will have equal representation and opportunity to help run the series. Even Bruce can now put his hand up and help out. Brett Morris has put his hand up to organise this committee and will need help from all clubs.
2. Proposed calender was reviewed and changes made to accommodate 2 events on Lake Macquarie instead of just 1 like previous years. Interim Calendar is published on tour.windsurfingnsw.com/calendar/ and will be updated once finalised in the coming weeks.
3. StormRiders supported the inclusion of an Acknowledgement of Country into our NSW series event briefing sessions. Google it if you don't know what it is.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in contact with me.
Cheers
David
