Hi where do people sail around botany in a strong southerly.

I live in Sutherland so easy drive to both airport or kurnell

Airport area seems to get very choppy in a southerly - is there better flat water areas.

Im still just getting back into the sport and only sailed a couple times this year. I can water start fine but would prefer shallow areas until i get more confident.

Are there some regulars who sail all year round in botany area. would like to find some buddy's to sail with as im not really confident enuf to go solo yet.

Craig.

In a strong southerly, I prefer to sail from Riverside Drive, Sandringham, Botany Bay.

Its much flater than Kyeemagh

Hi Craig,

For southerlies I usually sail at La Perouse but it can get pretty choppy there. Sandringham would be a good spot and a lot flatter.

In a NE head along to Kyeemah and you'll find lots of folks out, I'm easy to spot being 6'2" with red hair! and have OTC stickers om my sails...come over and say hi if you see me. I'll be sailing all year as will a lot of others.
Cheers,
Giles

Deciding where to go windsurfing at the weekend is far more important than work!

Does anyone know what the conditions will be like out at Wanda? I sailed there last weekend and it was awesome; I'm keen to go again if the waves aren't too big.

You wont be able to sail wanda this weekend it will be dead onshore and super messy. Windang will be a good option it can handle swell and hopefully will be more cross shore.

Yes, I have heart there are some yummy windsurfers around Botany Bay.

I have been around the Harbour and Bondi this week but must say that the divers and surfers are very hard to digest.

I have to taste see for myself so I might be in your area on the weekend.

Anyone up to play catch me if you can?

I reckon I'll hit Kyeemah then...at least it's cold so I can wear my wetsuit to protect my legs against those damn parasites in the water.

Which is what I'm hoping because tomorrow is my last day using an 84l JP FSW before I have to return it!

That Southerly has been delayed another day. Dam not here till Monday!! Best place is the south ramp at Brighton Le Sands just a few hundred yards down Kyeemagh. It will be relatively flat tomorrow if you're just getting back into it as wind not that strong. Southerly here in my opinion is awesome!
