I don't often whimp out but I run with the 78ltre + 3.2m sail and it was too dangerous..crouched down all my weight on the board and luffing the sail as if I'd powered on i would have taken off like a kite ..whole kit & caboozle..
I got out in the middle and it was evil & I'm thinking mmmm do I keep going & hope theres a lull to gybe or just go now & get slammed..Went then & got slammed..
bugger 4' ramps and wind swell out in the middle. If only I had a 2m + 58ltre board!
I reckon a 100kg bloke would have gone great with my 3.2m ..

Yeah..fancy beach starting near the jetty..
I don't usually get scared and consider not going out but I did at Valentine. Out in the worst of it as I went to gybe I consoled myself by thinking that if the worst happened & I couldn't start I'd get washed up at Marmong and people sailing there might be able to bring me back to get the car.. Actually I saw somone out early at Marmong but I think they gave up too as it got stronger..

How was Canton? Russ & I considered going there after we bailed . Lucky we didn't as it was building and gusting to 50 - 54kts by the time we would have got there..

I was out at Marmong on Monday. Had my 4.0 on and was very overpowered most of the time. Got in some crazy high jumps. Was very much like a windy day on Maui with all the chop. Thought I'd died and gone to Maui except for the temperature. So glad I invested in the 4.0.

wow that was an interesting sail on monday, car'nt ever remember
sitting & watching cause its to windy with a 4.2 rigged. Never seen surf at valentine but you could have surfed some of the waves.
How's coal point, waves breaking over the jetty, thats a great photo.
I should have tried your 3.2 sue to see if it was sailable with that.
Wish i had the cam on me head when you tried to gybe, you started to turn & everything just jumped out of the water then crash, made some nice spray.
thats the wildest i've seen the lake so i had to go out & try it, only probly 20 or so runs out & back, waist high chop real survival sailing.

I thought of that later and also wished I'd taken some photos of you sailing but I was too keen to get out there while there was someone else out to pick up the pieces if necessary!
I can't even remember that gybe! I know I stacked it but no memory..probably too adrenalised with fear..
Had a lovely sedate sail at Budgewoi today in a gusty 15-20kts and flat water and sun getting low...

It was so windy I took some video on my go pro from the shore.
I went out with 5.5m at wangi got up in the bay so it was flater and to take some edge off the wind. Unfortunatly took to much of an edge off it so was under powered on the 5.5m.
But sailed to dark and got over 35 knts

Wouldn't it have been really gusty there? Where did you launch? Arcadia..?
