Hi all,

I want to take my first trip to Wanda, is anyone else heading there for some possible fun in the waves?

Ocean Beach, Umina (Central Coast). Have a look on Google Earth.

Brisbane Waters empties into the ocean via Ettalong and across a sandbank. A N'easter blows slightly offshore and across the sand bar and in the right tide, offers perfectly smooth water and nice little ramps.

Low tide is at about 1pm tomorrow so after the sand bar starts to fill the current will be heading back against the wind direction. When it works it's special.

Great place to work on your carve gybes ... never any rough water as generally you're sailing in between 1 to 4/5 feet of water. Obviously during the first couple of runs you need to get a feel for the depth and also be aware which way the tide is running to keep it safe.

Used to be a really popular place back in the day and I think is starting to get popular again due to kiting and the resurgence of windsurfing. Always nice to be out there with others.

It's probably also the exact place where that serious kiting accident occurred last year but that's not to say the location is a particularly dangerous one.

Botany bay, maybe over at Kurnell.

I'm trying to get a hold of a JP FSW which should be fun in the wind!

I'm planning on going to kyeemagh. I'll have to set up an electric perimeter fence around the gear & bring a tazer to keep the local wildlife away..

Botany Bay should be pretty windy tomorrow...

... Wanda will have wind but my guess is there will be millions of people in the water plus there is no swell to speak off

I think the best bet any sort of waves tomorrow will be down at Shoalhaven Heads... just make sure you bring a very small sail as it could go nuclear there tomorrow.

I am actually wondering if it would be any good at dolls point... there should be a bit of chop at least if the wind gets as strong as predicted.

I'm thinking of heading to Wanda early afternoon (have something on tommorow am). Water is nice and clean and should be less crowded than Kyeemagh. I did also notice last weekend that the 'local wildlife' at Wanda was very nice to look at.

Might see you at Wanda Des. Was keen to find some waves as 2009 is my year to crack the forward loop or die trying. Anyone willing to shout at me or give me some help on the water would be great and would deserve a beer or two!
Is the chop big enough at Dolls Point to give me enough altitude?

What's the bump and jump sailing behind the break at Wanda like? I'm not quite ready to surf the waves yet but I do like some jumps...

The waves will be about waist high at best so I wouldn't worry at all.

Wanda's been pretty flat lately. Small shore break with light bumps out back.

Giles, if I get out to Wanda I'd be happy to observe the your forward attempts, should be quite amusing. There is plenty of chop at Wanda for loop practice, you really don't need much when starting off. I still remember the steps from my lesson in Maui, so I could give you the theory. Also best to wear a wetsuit (not good in this heat) as you will get a few back slappers! Jamie C will be at Wanda today, he's also been contemplating some loop practice.

I sailed at Wanda for the first time today on a 83L JP FSW which was AWESOME!

Only wish my sail was smaller, 6.6 was getting a bit big in the gusts.

Had a great sail at Wanda / Greenhills yesterday. It wasn't that crowded and the scenery, once again was very very nice . A little gusty but well powered on a 5.2m and 78L FSW. Not much in the way of waves but some nice bumps out the back had you in the air without any effort or choice at times for that matter.
And the water, clean and refreshing, quite cool out the back.

Should of ventured down the coast.
25-35 knots, cross shore, head high waves.
Gave up after a few hours when it was hitting 40 knots.
Only 2 of us out.

It had to be hitting 40kts near the end there qwerty. When you can't bottom turn on a 4.2 you know something is up
