Going to be up that way (Elizabeth Beach) in Feb. First trip to the area and just wondering what the sailing conditions are like? I'll be taking a couple of boards - a Flow V85 and a Rio S. Will I need a weed fin too?

I read on another thread that Wallis lake is accessible via the sailing club. Is this open to the public?

Cheers.

Wallis lake is easily accessible. Just take the turn off the main road which heads to Foster a few km's once you pass Tiona cara park. Can be good S/SW/W/NW although you will need a weedy. Not sure about NE but you can still sail near the sailing club. The 'sailing club' is more like a shed (unless they have renovated lately) and the area is not that populated.

Smiths lake is prob the pick in NE. It can get shallow on the eastern side but quite open for NE. It will be tidal depending on whether the eastern side is open to the ocean (Siletto beach). Silottoes/sandbar beach gets great surf in S-E swell and is protected in NE by a big headland.

S/SE you could sail on the beach side at Tiona (7 mile beach) or head south to Myall lakes just past the Seal Rocks turn off although I'm not sure where you launch. Smiths is sailable in S if you want somewhere closer.

It's all pretty easy driving up there esp. if you are staying around Eliz. beach and usually good surf if the wind is average.

If you like sailing flat water and a NE seabreeze is blowing I'd recommend sailing at Winda Woppa/Jimmy's Beach at Hawks Nest. Its an amazing place to windsurf in a NE wind.
