Hi Guys,

First post in the windsurf section on here - first post in any section on here for a looong time.

Looking at getting back into windsurfing myself and teaching my 10 yr old with the hope he will catch the bug I caught when I was 12.

Haven't windsurfed on the northern beaches before but used to kitesurf.

I'm going to hire some gear to start with to see how he goes, my question is where is best and safest for a kid? Living in Collaroy I know Narrabeen lake can be ok conditions and safe for a kid, is there any where else or is that really it?

Any other tips anyone has for getting kids involved are appreciated, I'd really like to get back into it, but having a young family it will be much easier if I can take at least 1 child with me - little bit time poor as I am sure many of you are.

Cheers,

keef

Cheers keef, I had seen some other vids of Alex - he's got a talent for sure... Don't know why I havent tried to spark my boys interest before now to be honest... Shame Sanctuary pt is a good few hrs away and not just down the road, looks like a great spot

hi kiteagain, yeah narrabeen lakes in a NE, onshore, shallow, palm beach, pittwater side, at the lighthouse area, in a NW, its on shore, shallow, sandy under foot, churchpt, where the carpark is for scottland island legends to park, thats a monster sand bar, patchy wind in most directions, same with bayview, byra sailing club, a genormous mud flat, shallow, if there just kids playing, anywhere thats shallow, i grw up on scottland island, so we were sailing everywhere by about 7, its just up to there ability at swimming, actually, its probably a lot more dangerous now at some places because of the different approach to boats, and recreational craft, ha, have fun man, up the central coast has some great spots and magnificent sailors, come up and sail anytime.........wind depend

Milsy, Until 12 months ago I was living on the central coast! really am kicking myself for not getting him into it sooner.

Cheers for the info about church pt/ bayview area's I hadn't thought of checking out that end of pitwater so will do that..
I'll try to pick a weekend after xmas that looks to have a bit of breeze to hire some gear... for him and myself :)
