I sailed wanda from about 3:45 for a good hour and a half. The swell picked up towards the later part and so was riding and jumping the swell out past the back line of waves and sailing across to cronulla beach and back to wanda in the end.

Had an encounter with a bluebottle about half hr into session which wrapped its tenticle around my hand when I went to waterstart. Stung like hell and made gripping boom hard for a while, especially when the gusts and chop on the swell combine..... Anyone else encountered these critters before (first time for me ...), I just rode out the pain - remedy seems to apply hot water/heat (which I looked up after comming back), but fat chance of that happening when the wind is up, anyone else find alternate remedy to ease pain of the sting?

Cup of concrete? :)

Seriously though they can be pretty painful, had one wrap around my leg earlier this season but as you say when it's on there's no way i'm stopping sailing to deal with it. Was a bit sore/red for a day or so, I just put some antiseptic cream on it, dulled it a bit.

sailed the easterly on Lord howe as well, funny how sometimes we get the same wind. Had a good 20-25K, a bit gusty but fun. No waves, on the lagoon. Got big easterlies predicted for the next couple days, 30-40K. i think you guys on the mainland are copping a bit of wind at the moment too?

Birubi
Glovey and Luke were onto it and all over it.
Will try and post some footage soon.
On again for tomorrow but the swell is really starting to build...

Seen a couple of Kites out at Birubi, but have not seen sailboards for years. Is there any local sailors or people travelling to sail the area. Even rare to see a sailboard on the bay.

Shots from Birubi (yesterday May 21)
Apologies for quality (or lack there of)

Long long zoom on the little hand held with the sponge (F150) getting buffeted by the big gusts. (through the windscreen)

Should of hit it early when it was straight east and cross shore...

Any other good places to sail at Port Stephens. Many local sailors.

Only a couple of wave sailors.
Quite a few slalom and bump and jumpers off Bagnals beach in the bay.
Wind has kicked a bit more south which shuts down most wave sailing locations in the area.
Fingal could be worth a look tomorrow, could be cross shore on the outside of the spit but tides need to be taken in consideration.
