Round 3 Lake Macquarie Marmong Point Sailing Club
The wind prediction from BOM at the moment suits Marmong. Saturday Northerly 20knts to 30 knts then tending south midday 25knts to 30knts. Sunday south 20knts to 30knts then going SE 20knts to 25knts in the arvo.
Bring your slalom gear in case it???s too windy?
Saturday at the Slips is unbelievable crowded and this weekend even worst with the Catalina festival and sea plane coming in to land.
Last Saturday we could have race in a NW breeze 3 races Saturday morning at Marmong and nowhere else in the lake. Then two races Saturday arvo in a NE. The slips zero never came in that???s right ZERO. The Sand Islands did get wind. But there???s your NE prediction gone out the ****ing window.
We can move from Marmong at the Race committees decision no problems at all boat takes 10 mins and 15 min by car but the prediction suits Marmong for both days at this stage for wind and also for the chaos of boats sailing and powered boats.
At our conference I was the person who raised getting the permit to be able to race at the slips if Marmong was not suitable. Not the other way round.
We should race and WILL race the best suitable location between these two spots and also listen to people with local knowledge of the area.
Please note WE have 4 experience people running the Canteen at Marmong this weekend with drinks, salad sandwidges, heaps of hot food ,tee , coffee , biscuits and cakes so please support these volunteers in all the work they have put in for you to enjoy.
