Heading up to a lunchtime BBQ at Newport so thinking about windsurfing on Pittwater afterwards. Haven't sailed there before - is it any good? Where would be the best place to launch from? Any tips much appreciated.

not sure what gear you have. pittwater flatwater side can be sailed in most directions except probably SE. NW like today can be good and funnels in a bit. heaps of area to park and rig up and sail off the beach.

today looks like about 15 knots, maybe 20.

depending on what time the southerly hits you can try a couple of places.
Sand Pt is great B & J on a southerly. So is the end of the golf course at Palmy proper. If it goes SE then the ocean side of Palmy is fun but the shorey can be a bit gnarly.
have fun.

Sort of. Got up there a bit late but went out from the golf course and once I'd got right from there I had a few good runs.

If the wind was right I reckon its worth the drive. So much nicer place to be out than BB.
