Photos and Shenanigans on the high seas 28/Dec/2017

Interesting Session yesterday.... with some photos.

1st a nice foiling session starting in 8kts (too light) with gusts to 12 that got me on the foil... then base of 12 with gusts to 15... that was fine... then gusts of 18... which wasn't. After the 4th catapult I kept the 7.7m TRX but swapped over to...

2nd session on my 90L iSonic + 36cm fin which was good when planning, but the board was too small for the lulls.

I wish I had a 111L RS4 Exocet! Thanks for the test ride Remi, your secret is revealed!!! That board is sublime.

Then just before I called it a day, I saw a jetski doing something weird. Nothing. Just bobbing in the water, with no riders. So gybed and went to investigate, saw 2 heads a few hundred metres upwind and realised they must have fallen, and couldn't swim fast enough to catch the boat.
So I jumped on after tying my downhaul to the ski and waved for help. 2 other jetskis went past without helping, then a fishing boat with 2 blokes came to aide.
Meanwhile conan(?) called the cops from shore, thinking I'd been hit before they noticed it was me on the ski waving with my life jacket in the air.
The two blokes in the fishing tinny didn't have a ladder, so their rescue attempt wasn't working, a second boat turned up and left as they saw the police boat approach with lights blazing. 2 skiers picked up and taken straight to a waiting ambo at the boat ramp, while one of the blokes on the tiny rode the ski home.
I jumped back in the water thinking I had enough wind, only to suffer a 4min lull, failed to waterstart 3 times before getting up and plodding to shore, for the long 'walk of a hero' back to shore, and applause! Thanks for waiting guys, and especially George who helped me carry my board up the beach.

What a day.
