There seems to be sthing happening down the south coast this WE. Do you know if Nor Easters are reliable in winter (and under the rain)?? did you ever have a good session with the same forecasts??

Thks

Hey Fripi

Did you mean this ?
South Coast

and this for the North Coast

Pretty trippy weather for winter but if it happens it should be schhhhwwwwweeeettt with the current southerly swell on the build !

As a rule, winter fronts tend to zip in and out pretty quick so keep an eye on the long range and how it will switch back and forth !
My main concern would be the projected wind strength along with forecasted rain...in my experience they don't normally play too well together

I've got my doubts about a NE this time of year. If they are talking about rain as well I don't know what to think.

I think cloud cover seems to intensify a southerly, so what does cloud cover do in a NE in winter?

I've heard of the "Black NE'r" which is a winter NE. Wazza is often saying Gerroa gets them and they come in pretty strong. I wonder if Longy will work...

One of my favourite sessions was Long Reef in a black northeaster.
The trick with balck NEers is to guess the movement of the low pressure they are associated with.
Usually the low is over the Tasman. That low over the bight does not look right somehow. We shall see..

I need the planets to align and sport to get washed out and maybe I'll get the chance to get out. This looks like a frontal NE rather than a themal NE so lets keep a eye on this forecast. Longy or Wanda?? Perhaps the Butterbox may even work!

hope to see you out Crash.

We definitely do not talk about the forecast...

Only can talk about wind in the past and present.

We're a funny bunch. Over on the ski forums, they're predicting snow 2-3 weeks out and have 6 page threads on each upcoming weather system. It kind of adds to the hype/anticipation of a ski weekend.
