Have just moved to Newcastle and hanging out for a sail in the nice wind thats been around the last couple of days. Had a bit of a look around yesterday and didn't find anyplace that looked OK or anyone else out.
I enjoy any type of sailboarding conditions where other people are sailing.I have wave equipment and prefer waves. Would greatly appreciate any advice from locals on where the actions at around Newy. Nearly rigged up at Nobbies testerday. In the end I decided it was a bit too on shore and the wind looked a bit dodgy wrapping around the headland. Would be better not to have to sail alone in unfamiliar territory.
Thanks in advance for any advice
I'm not too sure where the Newie crew go in a southerly - surf wise. Lake Maq is obviously sailable if most directions. I've sailed at Blacksmiths (north side of Swansea heads entrance) although needs more SE wind and some swell but near the breakwall can be good. I've also sailed at Stockton but I think the surf has to be pretty big to pass the long breakwall for the harbour.
Toowoon Bay is not too far and prob the best spot in south winds and can be sailed in S or SE . 'jimmy wind' posted a location run down for the whole central coast. someone else will know the link.
Caves beach is alright in a south-southeast wind. I sailed Toowoon Bay yesterday which is just south of The Entrance. Fully lit on a 5.2 and 88ltr board but small surf.
