Hey all,

Just moved to Newwy (Mereweather) and keen to hit the water today and over the weekend.

I found a wind map with a few local spots on it. Just curious as to where everyone else is thinking? Swansea given the NE'er? Does anyone ever sail directly off beaches like Dudley? Or mainly stick to the lake?

Keen to meet you all, cheers

I'll be heading to Birdie Beach this afternoon if it comes in around 4pm. It is a National Park and costs $8 to enter but I've been going there after 4pm for 20 plus years and never been fined for not having a ticket. It's a beach break with side shore winds and can get more swell, usually wind, than most places in the area. To get there, follow the A43 south past the second Catherine Hill Bay turn off then take the next left into Blue Wren Drive, Munmorah State Recreational Area. Take the second left into Birdie Beach Drive and follow all the way to the beach. The place has toilets/showers and a grassed rigging area although the grass is dead atm due to no rain. Others places to consider are Nobbys, Dixon Park in Newcastle and Redhead a bit further south.

Hey Alec, if you're looking for more flatwater / bump and jump, then should be plenty of people at Coal Point on the lake. Launch is next to the boat ramp at Biriban reserve.

Another option on the lake is "The Slips" in Belmont.

Alec didn't see you there today sorry.
It was bloody windy 25 gusting 30 I was fully powered on my 6.3 race sail.
it was not flat with heaps of boats out would have made for some great jumping.

Went out of Bar Beach, had a great session until my downhaul snapped a fair bit out to sea.... It was an interesting downwinder from the. Was pretty lucky to recover! Awesome day until then!

You looks the goods yesterday buddy.
The Slips was great for the wind direction.
BTW any advice for board (mast) bag repair in Newy? Mine got ripped during move and now masts keep slipping out (not ideal).

Hey tim

Guys at The Canvas Man did a good job repairing my board bag. They are in Warner's bay.
