Hi,

The Rockdale City Council are putting on fireworks on Botany Bay at 9pm tomorrow. If you are going windsurfing there tomorrow and don't have anything planned for the early evening then why not hang around after sunset to watch the fireworks? We will have the best parks to watch the show.

It should be a good way for us to say goodbye to 2012 and welcome 2013.

According to information signs, grand parade will be closed after 7:30pm... I don't know the details, but you might want to check you won't be forced to spend the night there with your gear in the booth...

Good to know the planned road closure. I'll pack some bedding.

RTA says:

There will be road closures in place in Brighton-Le-Sands between 6pm Monday 31 December and 2am Tuesday 1 January for New Year's Eve celebrations.
Major road closures include:
THE GRAND PARADE: between President Avenue and Bruce Street.
GENERAL HOLMES DRIVE: between Bruce Street and Bestic Street.

So from 6pm. And the top carparks should be ok. (The fireworks are down near dolls point I think)

I went past there this morning on way to work and they are setting up amusment park rides between the top car park we use and the fish shop. chances are parking down there will be an absolute bitch today.

if you want a sail i suggest getting there early.

Does anyone know if there is a wave? Not sure if it's worth driving to Wanda... Flat at Manly.

Forget the wind, if anyone is there early and wants to give a parking report...

The swell is south so manly will be flat, there does look like a small amount coming in to cronulla.

Spent a long and great day at Kyeemagh yesterday.

The wind was quite strong during the day, way too strong for comfortable sailing with my 6.6m sail and choppy water.

The evening was great too. Lots of people there though only one other windsurfing couple stayed for the fireworks. So we had dinner together and watched the fireworks.

There was a bit of drama with illicit fireworks being set off up and down the beach and the police running around. Besides that the guards assigned to manage parking did a great job. It was good to talk to some of the others around there and wish them well for 2013.

Here is some footage of the finale.
