Hi all,
Just wondering,
We all rigged and parked on The Grand Parade and bestic street section, however now that the desal construction is finished and the beach access is all developed and cleaned, they have formed a new parking area just after the cook river bridge.
This area is clean and good access to the water and it does offer a smoother water in a strong Northeaster as being closer to the runway wall.
So is this going to be the new rigging area for us, what are your thoughts.
Thanks
Walt
I've driven past that new carpark and wondered how it is. Thanks for the info. It may be a great option in a nor easter.
Then again, come summer the parking strategy may be, as always at Kyemagh, anywhere you can get a spot. Rare as hens teeth on a hot summer afternoon.
i had a look down there yesterday i think it looks great!!
but then u take a closer look and there no way i would walk my sails rigged over sharp metal at shoulder hight !! What were they thinking!!
i was very disappointed from a windsurfers point of view.. If on the other hand u were Jamie Durie U'd probably love it !!
Oh and that NE never came yesterday just sat around looking at the airport in my wet suit very wet cold another disappointment ..
I am looking forward to summer and the flat water see ya all sunday shhh ![]()
parking there in summer is a joke, anything would be an improvement.
Hope that nw comes through today...
I drove down and took a look. I think windsurfing access is going to be difficult. Access from the car park to the beach is via walk lanes that are not very wide and zig zag.... I imagine this car park will fill up very quickly also?
Looks good, but jury is out on access?
The car park at the other end is no more either, which will make access limited again.
Parking this summer will be very difficult there, unless we venture down to dolls point area where Sandringham street and Carruthers Dr meet. Last summer it was ok in terms of parking and people. Rigging area was good but a slight walk to the water but comfortable.
The weekends at bestic st will be the most frustrating anywhere unless get there early and wait for the wind to kick in, I guess we have to just grin and hope for a cold summer maybe to keep some away anyway enjoy your day
thanks
