I drove past foreshore drive Friday last week and I don't think it's a good spot at the moment with all the stuff being dug up and floating around... who knows what toxins are in there right now. That said. I think the spot could be still a serious speed spot once the dust has settled.... we'll see.

In the mean time for a blast in NWer winds north of Kurnell try Rose Bay. I know people sail from the Sailing Club in Rose Bay on a NWer. Never done it myself but I used to work in an office in North Sydney with views towards Rose Bay and in every NWer it looked like it was honking down that way.

Rose Bay is good in northerly breezes. Will be heading there tomorrow.

No good in a NW'r - if you want to sail up the harbour in a NW'e try 'Hen & Chicken Bay' end of Burwood RD Concord, but it will be even gustier than Kurnell.

is there any where close to sydney that works with in a NW wind for wave riding?
otherwise i guess rose bay is where i'll be heading if the forecast holds true.
i have sailed rozelle in westerly but didn't have much fun, dirty water and i've heard plenty of stories about sharks there.

Sounds like a road trip is in order. For Nthly in Sydney - South end of Mona Vale beach could work, and even south narrabeen - but I've never had any success. Is the Gong options really good or are they "doable"?

Need some DTL bad... First NSWWA comp soon and need to get back some wavesailing fitness. I may check out Windang as the first event could be there if its Sth, West or NW.

hope we get something!

North end of Mona was always good in nthly too, as was north end of Newport. Better than NE for both spots.

Gong options are really good. Plenty of exposure to wind, and good wave when there's swell.
But as with anywhere, for any wind with west in it, you'd want it to be decent strength to make it happen (and to make the trip). So far forecast looks good.

think i will head down and hope the wind kicks in.
typed secret NW spot 1 & 2 in to google earth but it didn't show up..dam, just have to keep my eyes open for sails on the drive down.

i've only recently got into the waves but found it so much fun i joined up for the NSWWA. what are the comps like, is it cool for begginer/average wave sailor?
have been wanting to progress and get insight into wave sailing and thought it would be a good way.

We sent Google a list of spots that we didn't want showing up on satelite pics.

Yep. The NSWWA comps are good and they encourage sailors of all levels to join.
Very social. You'll have fun.

Pittwater, Palm Beach is probably better in a NWer. More consitant winds, longer runs plus high tide in the afternoon meaning no long treaks through boggy mud and weed.

Road trip was in order. Packed the truck full of gear yest morning and headed South. Sick of dodgy off shore Sou/westers......Went and visited Sandy Point yesterday arvo but not getting in there so sayed ast Fish Creek Hotel (cheap clean and great food) Got up early and drove down to Rye. About 20knts plus most of the day till about 2pm. On shore and sandbanks keep the chop down. About 12 other blokes out plus kiters. Local sailors were great blokes and up for a chat and some advice (happy to take any)

About 30 knots here at Rye at the moment so looks like another HUGE day tomorrow. First decent sail had all winter, Gotta love a road trip - just not the drive home 2moro night - absolutely stuffed.

Big thumbs up for Rye and the guys that sail there thought

Forecast is northerly. Normal north east spots will be cross- off. Wanda will probably be ok if you didn't want to drive but Warilla and east corrimal if your driving down here.

Weird wind - defied all forecasts and turned NE about 3pm for a golden hour. I was expecting medium NW/Nthly and so stayed Northside. I got couple of waves off Long Reef right up in the corner but the wind as super gusty and more hard work than rewarding. It's hard to remember Longy really working but used to be good - maybe in 1987 but I have sailed some decent NE's there.

In the end I should have headed to Wanda or the Gong! I'm going to get seabreeze on the mobile so I don't get caught again.

Good to here that some people were in the right spot!
