Do you know where is the best place for NW in Botany ? Apart from Kurnell which is too much driving for me.

Thanks!!!

Kurnell is essentially the only "safe" place.

I have sailed at La Perouse in a NW before but it's pretty gusty and can be sketchy if you sail out in to the channel. I actually once sailed in a NW from La Perouse to Kurnell and back. In retrospect a pretty stupid thing to do.

Alternatively you can always try Rose Bay in the Harbour. It needs a lot of wind but apparently some of the Eastern burbs bots go there when they can't be bothered driving down to Kurnell.

I'd be surprised if the Seabreeze wind forecast for Sydney is correct, based on tomorrow's synoptic chart.

slosh,

as Seg said, NW ok for La Pa - when strong. Better suited to W around to SW.

otherwise around Sydney it's a 'problem' direction. assuming you are in western Sydney then Palm Beach Pittwater side won't be on your list, good spot though!

what's wrong with sailing from La Pa to Kurnell?

Strong current pulling out to sea on an outgoing tide. Add to that the fact that a NW can go from 40 knts to nothing in zero seconds. I wouldn't want to get stuck in the middle of the channel with no wind, the current pulling out and a big freighter coming in.

I went to Foreshore rd today, it was NW but light about 12 to 17 knts, I was the only one there. You are a bit limited to short runs, but otherwise not bad.
