Heat 3 of the NSW Windsurfing Series is this weekend (5-6 Nov) at Lake Macquarie.
With Summer NE winds predicted we are expecting fantastic racing for both the Open and Free Formula fleets.
**IMPORTANT** Saturday we are going to a new venue (Just off Dobinson Drive, Swansea) so check out the attached link for details.

Brett
The link didn't work for me but is the plan to launch from the carpark next to the swansea caravan park? This is a beautiful spot, well done trying something different.
Not sure why the link didn't work? It works for me, but maybe that is because i posted it?
Anyway, the answer is yes, the car park next to the Swansea Caravan Park.
We are trying it for the one day as a test. Idea is to avoid the excessive Saturday yacht racing traffic while checking out another part of Lake Macquarie.
Forecast is looking great still....
The way I remember it, it is awfully difficult to come back to shore. There is a narrow channel in which one has to work against the wind and then still walk quite a bit in the water to the shore. This will be an experience alright! Personally,I'd much rather muscle the yachts at the Slips!
The start line will have to be right near wangi point so you could launch from there I probably will
Horrible spot to sail, crystal clear water, sandy bottom, flat smooth water, strong wind, parking 10m from the waters edge and the worse part you have to walk 100m in the water till its deep enough. I just don't think I will bother sound like way too much hassle.
Those who wish to sail one of the best spot on Lake Macquarie if not the east coast for a northeast breeze come along and experience it, you will come back and hopefully for a slalom sail when it truly is magic.
Forecast looks perfect!
Happy now!
shh muz, it's all part of our plan for world domination. Yep, horrible spot to sail. :)
Bring your small gear for when it gets too windy for formula tomorrow afternoon - what a forecast!
I'm not a racer but a lot of us freeride / slalom sailors from Coal Pt head over there for the speed runs in the flat water behind the sand islands , the best wind in a NE'r and to sit in the shallows for a rest.![]()

Myself and a few friends are turning up to try some boards ..![]()
Sam,
no-one has mentioned the W word because I promised Muz not to so I won't, might bring bad luck.
It is a beaut spot for junior burgers, if anyone wants to bring them along there is crystal clear water with some trees for the tarts, protected from the wind. Best up the south end of the carpark away from the tide. And there is a dunny that leaves Ramsgate for dead.... not really high praise is it. I'd say its god's own country but we all know that is Wangi.
And anyone who breaks down is invited to float 100m downwind to Bazza's house on Wangi Point & stay the night, free beer! Baz, lock up the dog.
What is the likelihood of any slalom happening? Cause if it's better than not I might head there rather than the 'open sewer' of Botany Bay....
Rex
If the forecast comes good it is a nice speed slalom in the lee of the sand banks & you can keep on going out into Belmont Bay or blast downwind to Coal Point. It gets good NE. If you see the Nobbies graph go east or NE by about 12-12.30pm even if only 10-12 knots then it is worth a punt. That is the signal I use before driving there from Terrigal (1hr away).
Sorry, I missed your point. I would have thought chance of slalom racing not good as NE will likely not be too big for FW but I would love to be wrong. Flatwater slalom would be insane.
OMG, watchout everyone, Brett is wearing a Power Balance band, he'll be unbeatable this weekend........![]()
Here's a 10 minute video of Sam Parker's race at this weekends NSW Windsurfing Series at Lake Macquarie. It's from a GoPro mounted on his cap and I think it might be the 2nd race, which he won by some distance. Some great racing technique stuff in there for us all!
And for all those intrigued wives and girl friends out there, here's the spiced up friendlier 6 minute version!
