NSW Formula/Slalom Tour - Heat 3 - Report.
NSW Race-Board Tour - Heat 2
I'm not sure if we are just lucky or blessed this season (touch wood), but another race event with the maximum of 10races has just been completed.
Marmong Point (Lake Macquarie) was the host, and what a great job they did! Full breakfast and Lunch catering, hot showers (luxury for us), plus a new club house to shelter from the heat on Saturday and the wind on Sunday.
Saturday we had 3 races in 20+ knots of NW (hot) gusty winds, before breaking for lunch and waiting for the 15+ knot Southerly front to hit.
2 more races in the afternoon topped of a perfect days racing.
Not sure if there was a dinner that night as I was asleep at 8.30pm (totally pocked).
Sunday was 5 races in 15-25knots South-southeast conditions (straight down the bay). There was some discussion about switching to Slalom in the afternoon, but the wind was expected to drop, so 2 final races in what tuned out to be the strongest winds of the day to finish off the packed weekend.
Make no mistake, 10 high wind course races in 2 days is no walk in the park and i'm sure 90% of the fleet will be very sore come Monday morning.
A huge thanks to the crew how organised and run these events, specifically Byron McIlveen (including his whole family, who where either in the kitchen or on the start boat), All the Marmong Volunteers (especially the race crew, who were totally on their game all weekend) + the series organising committee.
Can't wait for Heat 4 in Sydney 30 November....
Georges River Sailing Club, Botany Bay, will be the host club.
Keep eyes peeled for some photos as Tam Ting was sighted with the long-lense at the of the wharf on Saturday....
Thanks Brett for your help and kind words it really is a teem effort to make these events happen.
We were blessed with terrif conditions and with so many races I was stuffed Sunday afternoon. I don't ever remember being that tired after racing.
Looking Forward to racing in a new location in Sydney terrif stuff now storm riders have a great club to call home.
And for the results, thanks to James Farley for compiling this and congratulations Barry, Brett & James Grunfelder.
