The NSW Formula State Championships are on this weekend (12-13 Dec) at Ramsgate Beach.
The big guns will be lining up to take the title, currently held by Sam Parker, but we all know that Sean O'Brien will be gunning (and promises to sign on and off every day this year).
The Form Guide indicates
Sean O'Brien will have to be favourite, but a lack of competition recently may hinder him. Too many Breakfast Burritos in Bondi and his coaching commitments may see him vulnerable.
Sam Parker will be fast as usual. Taking no prisoners this season - he has been cutting through the fleet like a scythe. His only handicap will be whether he can find a parking space big enough for the WSS truck.
Stephen Floyd - has been on fire this season and has to be classed as the dark horse. Beating off all comers has become a specialty, and spurning those who say that he is a light wind wonder. Watch out for Aus-222 he has found a new "hovering" board.
Mike Nelson showed people how to get around the course at StormRiders Heat 4 and the RaceBoard Champs and will be looking to repeat the performance this weekend. Word is he will bring a BIG hacksaw "to cover every eventuality".
The bigman Brett Morris will be looking forward to a windy weekend. After taking out Heat 4 (Formula races) he will be ready to put his name firmly on the trophy.
Plenty of others showing good form too - Byron, Remi, and Nathan will not go down without a fight..
In the FE+ class Ben Turner has been showing the way every weekend, but the wiley fox Barry Fawkes will be trying his hardest to put an end to Bens winning streak. James Farley took out StormRiders Heat 1 and will want to show that he is no flash in the pan. Local speedster Tim Ford has been getting faster every event and will carry the flag valiantly for the B'Bay regulars.
So - The circus will be in town, come down and sponsor a Formula Sailor - you might even get to see Santa (this is the only reason Mitch will consider coming - he claims to have been very good this year)
More info will be on www.windsurfingnsw.com/ and http://www.storm-riders.com.au/

Good luck to all over a (hopefully) windy weekend
Ben
Thats no good Ben - the kissing sickness!
You have plenty of time to recover for Head 5 and the Nationals then. Hope you get back on the water soon, we will miss you in FE+ (as we will next season).

...If I had of contracted it doing that i'd be happy....sadly no
What a day...4 races in hot windy NE sea-breezes of about 15-28knots...not sure of all the results, but Sean O'Brien AUS-120 is winning, with Sam Parker AUS-3 in 2nd (he is using a new Starboard LWR) and I'm 3rd..... I think Allison Shreeve AUS-911 is leading Jessica Crisp AUS-15 in her first Formula regatta...
Race 2 was in 28knots which was crazy fun for some and survival for others.....
Can't wait for tomorrow as the forecast is looking nice...
Another perfect days racing. a solid 15-20knot SE winds (Cross onshore). 4 more races.
Sean O'Brien AUS-120 dominated the event, winning with a race to spare. The win was even more impressive as Sean only registered one set of gear i.e. sail (11m Point7), Fin (K73 cut down VGM Blade) and Board (Gaastra Formula).
