The 4th and final round of this season's series is on this Saturday (Mar 30th) on Lake Illawarra. The regatta location is a new one for the series - at Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club, located on the west side of the lake , about half way down. This is the club that 'gong foilers are based out of.

See the map below for parking arrangements - only cars with trailers to drive into the club grounds please. Cars/vans without trailers please park on the road above the club - back to the fence. No food is available at the club - bring your own or nearest food shop about 1 km away.

Registration is from 10:30 am , briefing at 11am and first possible race at 12:00. Maximum number of races is 5. Foil and formula to sail together in one fleet, including Free Formula & Free Foil.

Early forecast shows a 10- 15 knot southerly - sweet for racing
See you there

Well it certainly got windy!

It was a sunny millpond up until about 12:30 making plenty of time to catch up and discuss the latest gear. The predicted westerly starting fairly slowly and at the start of race 1 it had lifted to about 20 knots with a building chop. The first lap was ok at 25 knots but the second lap saw gust up to the high 30's (43 knots recorded on the Green Pole at Primbee across the lake!) , effectively blasting the formula guys off the water and most of the foilers. With no letup in the wind further races were cancelled - oh well

See some photos of the day on Facebook - either Illawarra Windsurfing or Australian Foilers - thanks to Nick Nelson.

A big thanks to the guys from KoBSC for manning the boats, setting the course, etc.

For the season the results are as below. Congrats to Brett & Barry in the Formula fleet and Chris & Tibor in the Windfoil fleet for topping the season rankings.
Note that according to the NOR round 2 (at Kurnell) counts as double points and shown as Kurnell 1 and Kurnell 2. Botany Bay & Koonawarra had only one race each.

Already looking forward to next season. It is likely to be a similar format to this season.
