My wife and I are embarking on a NSW South and Central Coast roadtrip from 12 March - 27 March.
Our planned stops are Merimbula, Jervis Bay / Sanctuary Point, Lake Macquarie and then staying for a week in Port Stephens.
I know that there's some good sailing in some of these areas, but when reading posts they mainly relate to summer ie December and January.
I'm planning to take SUPs but not sure if it's worth chucking a windsurfer on the roof as well.
I was thinking a Futura 133 with 7.5 and 8.5m, probably need a weed fin for those inlets, right?
Would be grateful to hear some opinions from fellow sailors.

Hey jakranz. Not sure about the south coast but I live at Lake Macquarie and do a heap of sailing in various spots on the Lake and other local places. I find the closer it gets to April the less Nor Easters we get and they tend to be not as strong. Having said this the water is warm (boardies and rashy) and offers plenty of options. The nor easters are the prevailing winds during the warmer months but we often get southerlies and other random good wind days. If you have space I would bring your gear. Depending on direction I recommend;
Coal Point (south up to north east).
Marmong point (pretty much anything other than south west)
Valentine (sw/south)
Rathmines (south/south east)
For speed sailing we have one of the best/easiest spots about 40 minutes away in Lake Budgewoi with plenty of options.

Bagnalls Beach (Port Stephens) in a NE wind.
Thanks for the tips guys! Looks I'll be taking the wind gear then. Assume that time of the year will not blow a gale with rather inconsistent winds and I'm not going to do wave sailing, big gear would be the go. I heard about Bagnalls Beach and Budgewoi and would be interested to check this out. Being from Melbourne I sail Port Phillip Bay very often, occasionally Sandy Point and Inverloch. Never needed a weedy but I reckon I may get one for this trip for these lakes and shallow water.
