I'll try and get there a bit earlier, but i have some commitments first.
Im hoping someone got out early to catch those 40kt westerlies....
Trees falling all over the place near my house.
I dropped into a glassy/ballistic Lake Dangerous this morning at 6:30 on the way to work.
Seano was out and Ads on the way. usual SUPER gusty westerly with hold your gear down bullets followed by a glass off. Sean was on a 5.4 and just holding on and Ads on a 5.0.
If they managed to make it upwind to Pipeclay they should get some good speeds.
Hairy drive to work too!!!!
I think last night was the first time ever I have been woken up by wind! Usually it's my wifes snoring.
Just spoke to Sean, he said it was pretty horrible this morning.
Super gusty but the water temp has warmed up.
Bring on spring!!!!!!
I rigged at 9am and it was about 30knots. Then it went calm.
At least I got to practise rigging and walking to the water and back with my gear.
set the alarm for 6:30 but actually woke up 5 minutes earlier because the wind was shaking the door...
... jumped in the car. Click - Nothing. Dead battery... that's what happens when you leave the lights on. Got a jump start 30 minutes later...
and finally made it down to La Perouse by ten to eight. On the water by 8am... 10 runs and the wind shut down...
... Let's hope the NEer this summer will be more reliable. And let's hope huey doesn't forget to bring some swell with that seabreeze... all that lake sailing is starting to get a bit dull.
Does La pa work in a NW -W then??
the wind was mostly W. which meant it came straight over the break wall.
it gets pretty gusty the further you go towards the end of the bay. trick is to get upwind and out into the channel.
W-NWW works but it's not as good as Kurnell... for a quick blast it's better than driving all the way down to Kurnell...
got woken this morning at 5am by the wind and made the call to get out of bed and head to la perouse.
on the drive down there it was blowing its tits off! getting rather excited thinking i was not going to miss it today.
parked the car about 5:20, still dark but blowing. in the time it took me to get the board out of the back it went from 40 to 5 knots.
not happy!
Just got back from WA last night... and noticed this morning that the westerly up this way was strong enough to snap the solid timber privacy in the backyard between the neighbours fence along with overturning a solid timber table and DESTROYING the BBQ ![]()
Huey must have been very very upset to cause this much chaos !
I am taking it as a sign of an awesome impending summer for the east coast as I will no longer be able to cook BBQ's in the back yard... I hope it is a sign that I will be too busy sailing instead.
Huey the oracle has sent a clear message...
