anyone with any tips for flattish water windsurfing north of Merimbula or Merimbula? Am going to be down that way from next week on. Thanks
Flat water
In Merimbula
- The Fish Pen - Best in NE on a high tide - launch fish pen rd. south side of bidge - short runs look out for the oyster leases.
- Main Beach ocean side can be pretty flat when the swell has north in it. launch Ford Oval.
North of Merimbula
-Wallaggot Lake - my pick (good in most directions from SSE to NE)- on the road between Merimbula and Tathra. Launch from North side sailing club (Wallagoot Lake Rd turn off) or South side (Bournda Rd Turn off).
Probably other spots but thats all I have ever sailed.
Down at Boydtown (back of Twofold Bay Eden) is great in NE. Normally crew of sailors and kiters (YES WE GET ON DOWN HERE) out in any NE.
Drive round to back of bay and rig up on grass at Seahorse Inn. Nice spot for a beer after a sail too ;)
Should be a few out from tomorrow after lunch if NE arrives as predicted.
Sorry buddha,I am actually staying at lake wallaga/bermagui, but the wife plans to have a little shopping trip to Merimbula so I thought I do something real on the way. Any thing north would be better. thanks for the tips anyway
No worries mate. If I were you I would definitely head to the Sth side of Wallagoot Lake (via Bournda Rd)
There is a primitive camping area at the SE corner of the Lake which is a great take off spot in NE. Nice long runs down the Lake back towards Sapphire Drive. Short walk with gear but good for a warm up and stretch. ENJOY.
