Went for a raceboard session yesterday, decided to launch from primbee (bad idea), put on my 44 cm raceboard fin, figured I'd just walk it out a bit through the shallows. After dragging the raceboard and 10.6 out 50+ meters, still not deep enough, so decided I'd play smart and take the fin off and sail out finless till it got deeper. Shoved the fin through the rear footstraps, looked tight, should be all good, hopped on, was a bit tricky but got going and cruised out, thinking I was pretty clever...got off and fin was gone... :( Spent the rest of the session slogging up and down looking for it but couldn't find it.
So, if anyone sees/stands on a 44 cm G10 pointer fin (typical greeny/yellow colour) off primbee it's mine, and I'll be very happy to have it back. I'll grab the coordinates off my gps tonight.
I suspect its about where the icon is in the picture below, although it could be further out. Position -34.500126667, 150.870640000
you can 'cut' the first few minutes of your session if you have gpsresults so you will have a clear track. Then you can select points in google earth and add them to the gps as marks, then navigate to your marks. I did that when I lost Artur's boom, and I spent a whole afternoon trying to retrace the steps, but couldn't find it, I think it floated out of the way. I guess the fin will be even harder to spot, but at least would not have moved.
good luck !!
Found it! Very impressed with the accuracy of the gps. Walked to within 2m of it, and spotted it almost straightaway. Something to be said for taking the gps each session, particularly if you're in the habit of dropping fins...
thanks for the tips powersloshin
