Whilst the forecast seems to have backed off a bit for Saturday I am still hopefull of getting down to Botany for a sail. One thing I have been wanting to do for yonks was to sail from Kyeemagh across to Kurnell and back, something I finally did last weekend. I did however find it a little daunting thinking what the hell do I do if I have a gear failure.
Anyway, I was thinking that maybe we could have a big group sail across on Sayurday arvo if anyone is interested. I reckon it would be pretty cool to have a dozen or so guys all flying across there next to each other. That way we can all safely keep an eye on each other in case anyone gets into any difficulty.
If anyone is interested why don't we meet say at about 4ish on the beach at the bottom of the stairs of south ramp, across from the Shell servo and we'll go from there. It may turn out there's not enough wind and we'll just have to do it another day.
It's not a race, just a fun medium distance sail (about 4k's across I think from memory). We can stop over at Kurnell for a breather before coming back if the fitness isn't as it once was for some of us.
Good idea !
I made it a couple of times but from Kurnell to Ramsgate.
4pm is maybe a bit late for me.
And there is always the car park problem in kyemagh![]()
Great idea, Andrew ![]()
Unfortunately I'll be in Brisvegas.
.....but
The forecast isn't that different from yesterday (Thurs) when the N/E came in right on 3pm as we rigged.

It was easy doing runs to end of runway (approx 2km) & only another 4-5km to Faaaarkurnell
.
Go for it. I'll be there next time![]()
Great idea rexy. You are the ideas man. Let us know how it goes. Im unfortunately on chrissie family duties today.
Yup, great idea, I'm in for sure!
...except I only just read the post now. ![]()
Next time, I'm in! It's a great run - much steadier wind than tucked in under the runway.
So did you go on Sat? I was out on the 6.2 which was a bit marginal.
It's not a race??? Maybe fang it on the way there and cruise back! Next Sat?
Nah, I was Norman no friends I'm afraid Des
. I saw you either rigging or de-rigging as i was leaving. The wind had dropped right off so I called it quits. Not sure if it came back in again though, I think it did as Mike racked up heaps of k's as per usual.Still, I had a great sail anyway.
If It's windy next Saturday then yeah let's go for it!!
It sure did come back. It died and everyone packed up, I kept slogging around for a bit as I had a late start, then it came back and I had the next hour with the whole place to myself. ![]()
