Heading up to kilcare for the weekend, right at the bottom of the central coast. Does anyone know if the water on the inland side of kilcare is any good for flatish water windsurfing? Keen to avoid going up to the entrance if I can.

Your best bet near by would be acroos the bridge at Ettalong/Umina Beach. Check out google maps. There is a big sandbar at the river mouth which has good flat water on the inside and sometimes waves out the back.

Depending on wind direction, you may be able to flat water sail at Ettalong near the Mantra Club or further up the channel near the surf.

If you are keen try the beach at Umina, you can do in-close flat(ish) water or further out try some waves depending on your gear and skill level. Forecast is not great ATM.

Good luck.
