Hi, went to book some accommodation at Jimmy's Beach caravan for next weekend, good northeasters forecast and the site said closed for safety upgrades. Does this also mean the windsurfing area in front is closed?

Nope, just the caravan park.

The caravan park is undergoing a huge upgarde (by the looks of it), but access to teh beach is as usual.

I think they are renovating and doing up the Jimmy's Beach caravan park. I'm not sure but think I read about it somewhere. Its unlikely this affects access to the beach though.

Was there two weeks ago, caravan park is closed, beach access as normal. There's another caravan park near the main beach, or rent a house at Winda Woppa.

The carapark is closed due to a complete need to replace all the electrics. It was shut down (dangerous) and no one knows when it will open again.
Heaps of accom in Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest.

There is a bit of a debate going on about this sort of thing, how coastal caravan parks now occupy prime real estate. As a result they are upping their rates and improving facilities. Its probably to the detrement of those living permanently in the caravan parks.

Looking back it must not have been a bad way to live. Be on the dole or pension. Buy your van and site for about $20k and then pay about $50 a week in site fees. Great location to live if you like going to the beach.

Jimmy's Beach caravan park definately needed doing up.

Sailed there a few years back and bogged the Holden in the soft sand down to the door sills. One of the local caravan park residents was on hand in his 4x4 and offered to tow me out for a carton of beer. Naturally I agreed as there was not much option, gave him the money for the case and off he went to the local in Tea Gardens.

I was grateful but later wondered if this was a bit of a lurk, coming from his act of "goodwill"? Don't think he would have helped if there was no reward.

I know any decent sailboarder would have helped for free, but I was getting desperate. No longer park in that area.
