Looking for a shalllow place for my mate to have his first go at windsurfing, looking for shallow water, that works in S SE or SW any suggestions
The SW corner of the Pittwater has a spot thats great for learning however it only works at high tide. Its up Pittwater Road from Mona Vale. Looking at Google Maps its called Maybanke Cove.
At high tide the water is around half a meter deep over a sandbank that goes out a fair way. There are no currents and its great learning in clear water over sand. The water is very flat too.
I don't think westerly winds would work there as there are fairly big hills to the west but southerlies and any wind with some east in it are fine.
Other than that Narrabeen Lake launching from the northern carpark is good for learning too. However the water gets quite deep not far off the shore. It gets shallow again around the middle of the lake.
Narrabeen Lake is perfect for beginners.. There is a place to launch for just about every wind direction
South works in Dharook Park in Cronulla. At low tide it can get a bit too shallow otherwise you can walk most of the bay, so perfect for learning.
