just wondering if anyone is operating a windsurfing school in sydney?
have a mate thats keen and i don't have the right gear here.
cheers
I did some research (as a beginner) and found that the only one I know if Balmoral sailing school...seems the best option is to join a group class or do a search for those vouchers from RED BALLOON etc.
I have had 1 private lesson and it was $120...was it worth it? if you dont have any experience, like me with the modern equipment...I have booked one more lesson on Friday and that will be it for me for a while until I want to learn something specific...as its just too much with the drive, parking, tolls, lessons.
If he wants to get into it and lives close by some of the sailing places like Dobroyd may be the go ..depends where you live...for me living on the Southside of Sydney it looks like we have the best spots to Windsurf but no schools etc (that I know of)...could be a market here for someone with the right skills and equipment...tho the problem would be storing rigs...imagine rigging 10 sails or something daily...Balmoral just store them in the club and dont de rig.
wind surf n snow hold demo days during summer around boatany. they do lessons on those days for beginners. worth going to one to try out. most windsurfers around sydney will usually take the time to help you out. dont be afraid to come ask ![]()
There is also a windsufing club from UNSW that often rock up to kyemah with a trailer full of stuff- they are a pretty friendly bunch who will give you a hand.
