Gday all, I'm heading to Iluka in a. Couple of weeks, any info on flat water sailing spots to have a crack at and expected conditions for this time of year would be very appreciated ??
Hey Frothie. Yamba is one of my favourite spots to sail flatwater and waves on the North coast. From the Yamba side, and given we are now in spring, Whiting Beach is a great flatwater spot in the river. In a NE you sail on the leeward side of the rockwall and you can get long runs in really flat water. No weed, just deep and clear water, so normal fins are the go. Sandy bottom too, no mud. NE is onshore from the Yamba side. Located about 30 seconds drive from the centre of Yamba. Hope you get a run there mate, it is a fun spot. AJE

I'm frothing for a Yamba trip too. Its been too long(last good NE I sailed there was Feb). We haven't had a real good NE this spring yet but they are overdue. Hopefully they are fully in by the time you get here. The best flat water is when the tide is 1.1m or less. I'll PM you my number.
Let me know via Face Book as well Eric - I'd really like to sail Yamba again with a local!!
Are you there yet Frothie? Last couple of days might have been ok. Thurs through Saturday looking good at this stage in the forecast. Tides are good too.
Going to do my best to get down there for at least one of those days.

i.e helmet,no cam sails, freeride board,buoyancy jacket and teaspoon deep flat water .
