It's becoming an anual event for my family to drive up to Sancturary Point for a week windsurfing and catching up with Keef and co.
Last year we put the invite out to the Inverloch Windsurfing Club and Southerly Busters speed crew. Robby K, Esko, Darren and Wendy joined us and we had a great time.
This year I've convinced the president of IWC, Old Salty and few others to make the trek up to this great spot.
We'll be at the usual spot 1st week of November.
Can't wait to get there.
It is a good spot, I'll be on holidays at the same time so you might see me down there. You might not remember me but we meet on your first visit down there. Anyways be sure to pop up to Gerroa for a day to take on some DTL wave sailing at my local haunt, Nice spot to break into wave sailing if you haven't done much and a nice and safe beach for the kiddies to play on.
Enjoy your stay.
hi George great to see you guys up here again, ill make sure im down there when the wind blows, make sure you pack a weedy , I've been sailing the north of the boat ramp through the weed beds , as you can see in the video at the 2.30 mark how small the chop is compared to where we sail at the boat ramp, if your bringing anyone who is learning this is the place, its up wind of the ramp so if they get into trouble they can float down to the ramp with the wind or walk, ill be looking forward to catch up dazza&wendles

Hi Keef,
When I mentioned that I was going up again, Dazza and Wendy jumped at the chance. There's some new faces as well as old coming up.
The vid looks great, we're going to give it a go! ![]()
Yep George has convince my wife and I to come up as well. Can't wait!
Looks a bit choppy for me though. Us Invy windsurfers can't handle chop
We are a pack of Flat Water Premadonas![]()
Look forward to meeting the local crew!

old salty I haven't sailed invy but I dought if it's any flatter than sanctuary point, if you take note at the very start and the end of the vid, it will give you a better idea on how flat it is , also at 2.35 , also that shallow marker is waist deep, most guys sail from the shore to the shallow marker jibe or if you blow the jibe you can stand up and sail in , cya in nov
I use seabreeze" point perp" but can be a bit stronger than the graphs, just had a look at 6th of nov last year when the invy guys were here , nn/e peak 2sec 34.08 alpha 21.50 obviously that was behind the weed bed, and a 36.84 2sec in a southerly march , must admit the wind turned sse giving a nice sweet run behind the weed bed again
slalomfreak we have guys making the trip from Sydney ,last year the wind wasn't getting in behind the runway as previous years and botany can really chop up , lets face it Sydney isn't a great place to sail for flat water blasting if the runway isn't working![]()
"edit" just noticed dazza's 2sec peak on the 6th nov 33.01, he was fang'n all day on an isonic 86, 6.6 & 5.6 sail
cant wait to see you mike , the wind knows when your around, I remember your last hols you sailed nearly every day![]()
Which campsite would be the best place to camp at with a 3 year old child, children's playground, good camp kitchen, showers etc..?
There is a very nice campground in Nowra St Husskison , right beside the big playground and a short walk into town .It adjoins 2 beautiful beaches of Jervis Bay. It is less than a 10 minute drive to Sanctuary point.

Thanks KA360. I've confirmed my leave for that week so we will check it out. See you on the water.

Agree. White Sands Tourist Park. You would be wise to book (you can do this online). It is very popular.
Wow!
After our AGM it looks like it's sparked some interest.
At the moment we have 6 IWC sailors making the trip with a couple still to decide.
Can't wait, considering my last trip up there was the last time I had a decent sail. ![]()
Well with only 1 week to go looks like we have an Inverloch Windsurfing Club crew of 12 windsurfers and 4 non sailing partners coming up for a play.
It will be a staggered arrival from Sunday through to Tuesday - did not want to scare the locals too much![]()
Do us Mexicans need passports? How is the forecast looking?
that's fantastic old salty, no passports needed, in the 25 years I have been sailing I can safely say we have had a good run with the Mexicans , we have a dodgy guy and his guard dog from mallacoota, a suspected spy from the pit crew snooping around a couple of times a year ![]()
so far the forecast looks good , we haven't had a lot of n/easters as yet and useually they start from the 1st week in nov so lets hope you guys turn them on ![]()
Hey all - been reading this topic. Sounds like a good time to get down there to sail. What week/time of the year are you talking about. I am getting more and more addicted to this sport and looking for different places to sail to improve my "advanced beginner" abilities.

The sanctuary point IS the place to go. Amazing spot for people who want to improve. ![]()

Yep being part of the Southerly Busters GPS team we bring the southerly busters along with us and the Vicco temps!
Looking like the first few days will be Southerly's - where would be the best place to launch from Keef?
old salty the forecast is ssw so the ramp looks the go, I had a look at a place with great potential on Tuesday after I sailed at the ramp, the wind was still 20knts + s, when I took the pic (on the gps site) earlier jase and I had a look when it was 20 to30knts and it looked the same , flattish with a good steady wind , im not sure how deep it is but its worth a look, if the wind is from sw paradise beach is the go nice and flat there aswell , just google it, either way it looks like you guys are going to get a sail and hope for some good n/asters after the southerlies

if anyone is coming up on Saturday keep your eye on www.windguru.cz/62164 for sunday, windguru has been spot so far with the westerly's and if you could get a sail at primbee it would be a bonus
Bristol and I headed off from Canberra at 8.30am on Saturday and had a great weekend at the Point. Saturday was sedate, but at 12pm today it was gusting approx 20 knots from the west and I took off from the boat ramp with my 6m sail trying to waddle out in the wind shadow of the headland, which was energy sapping in itself for an old fart who hasn't sailed since earlier this year. Anyway got out into the white caps and took off, but ended up in the deep channel and tried to carve jibe to the left which isn't my favourite turn and fell in. Well, trying to water start in the gusty wind was even more energy sapping, but managed it after several attempts and went back in.
Meanwhile Bristol is setting up his 7.3m sail, and I said to him "forget it!".
Sat around for a while till after 1pm when the the SSE kicked in around 20 knots. Changed to my 4.9m sail and KA360 lent me a weed fin which ended up being very useful with the floating weed coming down wind. Thanks mate! (I put it back in the back of your van or the right hand side!)
The SSE dropped off a bit later on, so changed back to my 6m sail and had a ball for a while, until the batteries said, go and have a banana or two.....but I was totally knackered, so packed up and we left back to Canberra at 3.45pm, which took 2.5 hours via Turpentine road. Fairly easy drive.
First time at this location, and for me it is one of the best places to sail. Had a nice chat to Keef who is the font of all knowledge together with KA360.
Hope to get back to Sanctuary Point in the not too distant future. Much better than the fluky winds in Canberra and Merimbula where we usually have our annual vacation.
Thanks for your company Bristol......much appreciated!
Paul great to meet you , you looked nice and comfy out there considering you don't sail a great deal, Bristol was having a ball as well , see both you guys back here real soon![]()
Windsurfing: good times, good mates. What more do you want from life? (apart from a few less aches and pains in the aging body today) ![]()
Thanks to all for making it a great weekend.
Day one 25 - 30 kts. First run in control. Second run this is good lets take the long run out to the other side
Hmmm what could possibly go wrong! Almost there massive air of a big roller- Probably 2 inches out of the water for me
. Back foot slip put of the strap and got caught on another wave. Splits, bloodied knee and torn hamstring. Limped back in, packed up gear and came home.
