Looking at sailing in [removed] tomorrow. How cold is the water these days?
I've a 3mm steamer and a 2mm NP top (that's really good by the way/recommended).
And a pair of shorts.

(I'm superstitious. Every time I've mentioned where I'm going to sail it affects the wind. I'm going somewhere.)

NE and westerlys are boardies and rashies - the southerlies can be a little colder

more due to wind chill than water temp

That's beautifully mordant but ultimately a vague answer. How about inside a bay?
I've experienced board shorts and rashie on a Saturday in the ocean, and then so cold I can't talk in a 3mm steamer on Sunday in the bay.

Sounding like sun and a northerly = boardies and a top.

Lets just say I was very cold a week ago in a southerly (with a full steamer) but a week before that I was in 3mm neo vest and boardies even for the 6am surfs. Tomorrow - no full wetsuit needed IMO (in the ocean, Narra lake will be colder).

Sorry about the LMGTFY - always makes me laugh.

Fingers crossed Longy/Collaroy will work.

surf/ocean about 19. manageable without wettie, if you're a bit skinny you'll need it.

The obvious spot is okay, though a little bit cold... But not falling should help.

I find those ocean temps representative of larger bays, i.e. B-bay and Middle Harbour-Balmoral.

Anyhow, I find 19 or 20C OK with a rashguard if one moves about a lot to keep warm, i.e. freestyle.
If cruising, I'd wear a steamie..
