I was knocked unconscious off my board by a runabout on Australia Day. The driver was giving his attention and his observer's to two kids on a donut they were towing.
I am out of hospital today with a repaired fracture of the left knee and healing vertebral fractures. My memory is nearly back to normal and I wanted to say thank you to those people who helped look for me after my board was found with out me on it, have asked about me sent cards or visited me over the last two weeks. Thanks Guys it means a lot. Hope to be sailing again in about four to six months.
far out Nigel, I am just stoked that you are able to walk and talk after that incident! I wish you well mate, and hope you become fighting fit for next season.
At the Formula Oceanic's at Hawks Nest last week there was allot of concern and talk about your accident.
Everyone will be stoked to hear you are recovering.
Hope to see you back on the water sometime soon...
Glad to hear you are on the mend Nigel.
I have also had an experience with a careless boat driver who ran over a fellow sailboarder at Gosford. Luckily no damage except for a new sail and board being needed, paid for by the offenders insurance. We contacted the police who sent the water police. They were really good and took all the details and then charged the offender for negligent driving. He was also fined a large amount. Apparently he was too busy talking to his guests to notice a sailboarder in his path. Stupid *#@*
Was your offender charged?
Hopefully it never happens again. Good luck.
Hi Nigel,
Great to here you are recovering from your ordeal. We are bound to be up that way some time soon. We will call in or give you a ring. Get well soon, so Tom can sail with you. Great news.
