Hi, where will people be sailing this weekend if the forcast holds true? Happy to sail off the beach or in the lake, staying at booragul.

Cheers

I assume you are talking about Lake Macquarie. Looks like SE wind for Saturday and NE for Sunday. For the beach, try Caves Beach for SE wind or Nobbies for NE. In the lake, because your staying at Booragul, you can get out at Marmong Point in both directions. Just watch out for the men in the grey suits. I was sailing the southern end of Lake Mac yesterday and one came past to have a looksy at me.

Ohhhhh, sounds like it could be safer off the beach!!!! Either way what are the chances of being eaten anyway. Oh yeah im talking lake macquarie..... i used to live at wangi for a few years in the early ninties and used to hear of a few sightings around the power station outlets, seems from reading some of the forum threads there is a few more in the lake now.........does this relate to the abolishment of profesional fishing, i think they stopped it while i was living there, must be a bit more food for em now ay?

marmong has two friendly dolphins that you need to watch out for! I think the shark sightings are more frequent south of wangi.

marmong stays fairly flat in a decent nor-easter, but it will be 10 knots stronger at coal point, which is a 15 minute drive south (turn left after the mcdonalds at toronto). There will probably be a few guys at the Marmong sailing club with Formula gear on saturday so come down and say gday.

I live at marmong so PM me if you need more details.

I've seen one shark at Valentine last year but it didn't eat me and I regularly thrash my legs around waterstarting so i think they are well fed!
Coal gets better wind in a Ne or SE compared to Marmong although Marmong gets better swells.Go to Coal if light - off the E tip at the boat ramp.

Here at lake macquarie now, looking forward to meeting and sailing with a few of the friendly locals. Hopefully the wind comes to the party......

Half ya luck. The missus had to work so I looked after the kids. I locked myself inside the house with blinds drawn so I didn't have to look at the tree's outside doubled over. Had heaps of fun with my boys though and they come first.

Well you should have earned enough brownie points for next time..At least you don't feel like I do today..arghh the walking wounded with injuries..I read about your shark encounter..was it a bull shark? That would turn me off sailing.

Yep they were Bull sharks, just cruising on the surface and one just 50 metres off shore at Silverwater.
