Steady 25 knots or so most of the afternoon. Launched at Brighton and did some reaches out the mouth of the bay. Best wind and waves seemed to be south of the port.
I didnt get down to around 4 pm and that 25 knots was in the holes - some of those gusts coming thru were 30 -35. the 6.2 i was on was a handful at times and some of the runs out at the end of the runway were damn scary expecially when takeing foot out to gybe.
Damn good day and I hope we get a ton more like it this year - the Synoptic conditions fantastic - Massive high out near Newzealnd and another massive high pressure system near the Bight in SA witha big low pressure system in middle of aus.
It seems we are getting a seires of highs last few weeks that are pushing out to Newzealaind evey 5-6 days givng us a nice noth to south air flow down the coast which the see breeze effect is turning onto some nice winds.
usually port botany create a bif voodoo zone out in the middle of the bay as the port heats up it generates a large thermal wall the sea breaze gets diverted around. yesterday there was a lot af cloud cover and the temperature wasnt that hot along the coast so the port vooodoo didnt really kick in.
The wind uesterday were like what you get in Maui - except over there in June/July you get it every day for weeks on end :)
wind was all over the place on the northern beaches yesterday. seemed NNE then NE. A few kiters out at Manly, prob about 15 knots.
away from the beach it seemed 20-25 knots.
had a look at the web cams, at one point Dee Why saying 12 knots and Wanda 25 knots. the difference is uncanny in a NE.
super frustrating.
