Hi all,

I'm going to be at Jervis Bay Boxing Day - 3 Jan. I've seen this thread on some of the better places to sail:

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=46835&SearchTerms=Jervis+Bay

which was really helpful.

Can you guys help me out with these questions:

1. Can you hire gear anywhere? I'll bring my own but maybe just one board, not two!

2. Do I really need a weed fin? I don't really want to buy one just for this trip.

3. For that time of year, what would you suggest bringing? I'm 78kgs and have a Futura 111, and 101 JP FSW and an 87 Fanatic Goya FSW. I'm thinking the 111 and 87 in case the wind is up

4. Which are the best forecasts and live wind readings?

5. Apart from Sanctuary Point, Huskisson, Callala Beach and Swan Lake, is there anywhere else that is good to sail (yeah, I'm greedy)?

Nope you cant hire any gear nearby, so wil have to make do with what you've got.

I doubt you would really need a weed fin, unless you really want one I wouldnt rush out to get one. I have had a couple of times where there was some weed but didnt really cause too much of a problem.

The time of year your going is usually very windy, I would definately bring the 87L and some small sails too. A typical NE seasbreeze day down there would be anything from 15-25 knots sometimes even windier!

As far as wind graphs go, none of them would be too accurate for jervis bay the closest would probly be any of the Illawarra graphs. So if there green then I say it would be windy at the Bay.

Theres heaps of sailing nearby, a real favourite of mine would be Gerroa which is about 45mins north would definately recomend a sail here. Otherwise I would just do some exploring as there are heaps of places lesser known. Sanctuary point is good sailing too, waist deep over a sandbar for like 500m or so. This website has some wave spots for the area listed www.nswwavesailing.org
